As you may already be aware, our ORiON Plus network system can integrate and operate with Starlink Roam (Land-based plan) connections. However, there has been some confusing information regarding Starlink Roam usage on vessels, with some claiming that it cannot be used during navigation or movement. Below is the correct information for your reference. (1) Starlink antennas available for use at sea Currently, the following Starlink antennas are approved for use onboard vessels while sailing: *Performance Gen 2 (2nd Generation High-Performance Flat Antenna) Model: UTA-222　/　Technical Conformity ID: (R) 218-220003 *Standard (3rd Generation Standard Antenna) Model: UTA-232　/　Technical Conformity ID: (R) 218-230131 *Mini Model: UTA-231　/　Technical Conformity ID: (R) 218-250528 ※ Please note: The 1st and 2nd generation standard antennas with with motorized self-orientation can only be used while vessel is anchored or in port. (2) Flexible plan selection for Starlink antennas The antennas listed in (1) can operate under either of the following plans: *Priority Plan (commonly known as Starlink Maritime), designed for offshore use, or *Starlink Roam Plan, designed for use when docked or operating near coastal areas. (3) Starlink Roam helps optimize communication costs Starlink Roam Plan offers a more affordable option compared to the Priority Plan, with unlimited data capacity. When combined with other communication infrastructures, it can significantly reduce the overall cost of vessel connectivity. (4) Multi-Starlink integration with ORiON Plus Vessel networks built with ORiON Plus can connect multiple Starlink antennas simultaneously. For example: *One antenna may operate under the Starlink Maritime (Priority) plan, and *Another under the Starlink Roam plan. This setup allows for unlimited communication while docked or operating near coastal waters. When the vessel moves beyond the Starlink Roam service area, the system automatically switches to the Starlink Maritime connection. This configuration helps reduce overall Priority Plan data usage by utilizing the Roam connection whenever available. (5) Starlink Roam subscription procedure Please note that Starlink Roam contracts must currently be made directly with SpaceX.
