Due to a recent update to the way Microsoft manages licenses, PCs on the vessel that have Office (2019 or newer) on them will need to be activated over the Internet periodically. Specifically, the PC is automatically authenticated once every few months (time period not disclosed) when it is connected to the Internet. If there is no Internet connection and the program continues to be unauthenticated, the program will determine that there is no authentication and you will not be able to continue using the program. If you are unable to use the program, you will need to reauthenticate your license. Please note that this kind of problem has been increasing recently. Vessels that are connected to the Internet via 4G or Starlink can operate without having to be aware of it, but vessels using FBB, VSAT and FX, etc. with limited capacity will need to connect online periodically. The simplest way is to connect 4G to ORiON PLUS when entering a port. If you connect to 4G at least once a month, this problem will not occur.
